The 29th Edition of India International Jewellery Show was recently held at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregaon with participation of over 800 companies from India and overseas.
Honourable Shri Anand Sharma, Minister of Commerce & Industry along with Mr. Rajiv Jain, Chairman, GJEPC and Mr. Sanjay Kothari, Vice Chairman, GJEPC inaugurated the show through a lamp lighting ceremony followed by a guided tour of the show area.
The weeklong show saw a congregation of delegations from trade associations across India and from a host of international destinations like Bangladesh, China, Dubai, Hungary, Iran, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and more.
The IIJS this year witnessed the revival of the traditional crafts of India. On special showcase and under the theme “Craft to Jewellery” were displayed over 20 beautiful jewellery pieces made using traditional jewellery craft methods.
The show saw a Seminar Spectrum on the latest trends and developments in the Gem and Jewellery industry, and was also an occasion for participants to make announcements of major programmes, product launches, and initiatives that are aimed at enhancing the industry’s growth prospects. The next meeting in Mumbai is SIGNATURE, February 22nd to 25th 2013.
New board for the GJEPC of India
The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council elected Shri. Vipul P Shah as new Chairman and Shri. Pankaj Parekh as new Vice Chairman for the coming two years. Shri. Vipul P Shah, CEO & Managing Director of Asian Star Co. Ltd., is a visionary with extensive experience in the diamond industry and has a keen insight on the future of the diamond market. Shri. Pankaj Parekh belongs to a family of jewelers of several generations and has held several posts in the Central and Regional Committees of the Council, and is now the Chairman of the Eastern Region.
