Just like the solar eclipse outlines the sky in black and gold, Adler’s new collection dwells on the contrast between carbon, gold and diamond.
This astounding marriage of precious stones and noble materials challenges the general perception of each of them and of all three combined. An eclipse forces the viewer to look at the sun, the sky and the clouds from a different angle, and reveals unforgettable gleam. Adler’s Eclipse jewels engage us in rethinking carbon and its unique texture, consisting of several thousand tiny threads woven together to create a superstrong and surprisingly lightweight material, with organic lines gently visible through its surface.
“Carbon was my first choice of material for the Eclipse collection,” says creative director Leylâ Adler. “Other jewellers might have chosen ceramic, marble or onyx – all of which are black materials with shiny surfaces. But when you look at carbon close up, you are stuck by its matt blackness and texture formed by its individual fibres. Then when you hold it, you feel its lightness. It’s perfect for suggesting the mystery of the sky on the night of an eclipse.”
Diamonds need no introduction, since their purity, power and beauty are breathtaking. Like eclipses, diamonds are well known; and yet they surprise us at every appearance as if for the first time. Carbon deserves to be better known. Combined with diamond, carbon has gained unprecedented prestige through the sparkles that contrast with dark colors.
“For more than125years Adler has devoted its expertise to transforming the most exquisite and precious materials into unique luxury jewellery adornments,” says Leylâ Adler. “Today, we have decided to place our creative experience, too, at the service of jewellery collections.”
Eclipses offer a mystical, unique, and individual experience; Adler’s Eclipse jewels are sensual, naturally beautiful and divinely inspired.
