BULGARI PRESENTS THE NEW ACCESSORIES COLLECTION SPRING – SUMMER 2013

13-14

Harmony and contemporary flair characterise next season’s entire accessories collection: the summer promises blocks of colour and sophisticated experimentation that incorporate Oriental influences with whimsy and fantasy, resulting in a seductive amalgam of intense chromatic nuances.

The collection unfolds in a palette of bright hues, saturated with personality, alternating with subtler, more natural tones. Coral, amethyst, aurora pink, mulberry, saffron, almond, powder pink, mint, cobalt blue, dahlia blue and opal blue. As for the materials, exotic leathers like lizard, python and crocodile are once again featured, in a range of multicoloured finishes. This season also marks the return of boarded calfskin in the summery colour hibiscus, while the workmanship offers new three-dimensional effects at once fanciful and elegant.

Precious materials and fine craftsmanship play key roles in the new “Isabella Rossellini” bags, the real stars of the coming season.

The centrepiece of the collection is the ‘fan bag’, worn by the actress herself in the new ad campaign for Spring-Summer 2013, shot by Annie Leibovitz. A fan motif, inspired by an haute joaillerie earring, is transformed into an embroidery of red coral beads and sequins that undulate over the natural canvas body of the bag, lending it an Oriental allure. The closure is in enamel with a mother-of-pearl effect with amethyst twist lock, while the calfskin inserts are in a natural sand colour. Enriching the selection is a version in ‘petra’ brown with delicate stitches that suggest the three-dimensional scales of a mermaid, and a version in powder pink crafted with a ‘wave’ technique whereby the opacity of lambskin alternates with the softness of nubuck and the shimmer of python skin. The woven model in ivory-coloured natural fibres is especially precious, created by hand using an ancient weaving technique on wooden panels. The inserts are in lizard skin tinted white with a chalk effect that accentuates the blue sodalite of the twist lock. A standout among the season’s new calfskin models is the version in dahlia blue with a jewel-closure in malachite. Class is the key word for the offerings in glossy crocodile, featuring contrasting enamels and stones in bold and unusual colour combinations, like saffron and amethyst, or opal blue and aurora pink.

08For evening, the tones of black and brown mud take the form of embroideries and applications of sequins and glossy beads that create stylised patterns and motifs on the mini versions of the “Rossellini” bag in leather and silk.

In the Serpenti line, the day bags combine shiny karung with calfskin, emphasising the geometry of the body. The model comes in two different sizes, both with a handle that reproduces the scales of the bag’s namesake. For the warmer seasons, nature transmits its colours to the iconic variants with shoulder strap and raised stitching, available in cobalt blue and mulberry, combined with new enamels. Fresh from the Bulgari workshops are the colourful wrist clutches for Spring-Summer, in lizard skin illuminated by the vivid tones of green and raspberry. A gold thread on white enamel constitutes the geometric Deco motif that graces the minaudière, with a snake-head jewel-clasp in pink enamel with sodalite eyes.

A fashionable and versatile new bag, with pocket flap and shoulder chain, joins the Monete line, offered in soft calfskin in a variety of tones ranging from almond to aurora pink for daytime, as well as ivory-tinted python with a lamé effect for the evening.

The haute couture bags for the Spring-Summer season give free rein to colour with intricate embroideries of crystal, pearls and beads inspired by Bulgari’s own world collections of haute joaillerie. The lively chromatic contrasts and soft, natural lines of the exquisitely hand-stitched foliage motifs confer upon these bags the unmistakable allure of Bulgari.

The fascination of the undersea world, combined with a touch of Orientalism, imbues the collection of scarves and stoles for the coming season, with stylised prints that capture the luxuriance of nature, pushed to a level of abstraction that makes them consummately contemporary. The oversized dimensions of the silk twill are complemented by a rich palette of summer hues.
