MACEF IS BACK, IN JANUARY BUSINESS IS AT HOME

The launch of Macef+ online exhibition and the return of Festivity are great novelties of this International Home Show, which thinks big to provide buyers and companies with new concrete opportunities. And still, “L’Opera Italiana” and the best of tableware and bijoux for an exhibition which never ceases to amaze.

The great Opera Italiana

Milan, January, 24 2013– January arrives, and so does Macef. For years the first month of the year has been synonymous with design, style and quality. For the past 94 events, Macef has been unveiling to the world the secrets of the Italian excellences, a plus made of craftsmanship and creativity applied to tableware, interior design, and fashion as well as the latest trends in jewelry. With 1.681 Exhibitors, Macef is among the highlights of the exhibition schedule, an event which is continually renewed in order to support operators in drawing the most out of their activities.

This year, all this results in two important news: first, the launch of the digital project Macef+, the online exhibition which will “virtually” extend Macef for over a month, thanks to the wonders of technology, allowing companies and buyers to expand their contacts and business. And then a well-accepted return of  Festivity. Christmas and parties decorations, games, toys, and Carnival products increase the product offer of Macef and crate for new synergies and audiences.

The great Opera Italiana

Craftsmanship, avant-garde design, a glance toward the future, and love for one’s roots: this is the Italian style, unique, complex, varied, and absolutely unmistakable. A mix of creativity and production excellence are displayed in pavilions 1, 3, 5 and 7, which will be devoted to home décor. In particular, pavilion 1 hosts the experience of “L’Opera Italiana” and the emerging proposals in “Creazioni” paths, with new sections devoted to retail and creative items. Macef will showcase the “Italian pride”, valorizing the exhibiting offer with particular reference to foreign visitors and rationalizing visit paths.

L’Opera Italiana, the appointment with quality craftsmanship

Among the confirmed initiatives of this edition,  a major role is played by “L’Opera Italiana”, a special section which started off in September. Its début was attended by small and big manufacturing companies which have made history and are the pride of Made-in-Italy craftsmanship and style thanks to their attention to niche products, careful to details to the detriment of extreme mechanization and standardization. From joiner’s workshops to small furniture factories, from very fine leather to household linen, from opus signinum to innovative wood processing, “L’Opera Italiana”  presents the best products from our country, with the aim of ensuring complementarity of styles and products as well as high quality proposals, together with purposely conceived fitting-out, to offer an homogeneous view and a well-defined identity to this exhibition section.

Creazioni, the great design exclusively for Macef

Macef becomes synonym of design thanks to “Creazioni”, the exhibition sector which has showcased the creative spirit for many years, from big brands to emerging talents. A major role is played by style in all its fascinating forms. Original, trendy products in the forefront as for shape and production processes, divided into two side sections:

  • Creazioni Giovani: addressed to manufacturers, artisans, under-35 artists working with contemporary inspiration.
  • Creazioni Designer: addressed to emerging professionals, it offers them the opportunity to widen their contact network and relations while increasing their business.

Quality and Made in Italy of Classico Italiano

Products and proposals of Made in Italy excellences also in pavilion 3 in Classico Italiano section, thanks to the presence of the most prestigious companies in the traditional furnishings industry. The area is a reference point for the exhibition and the whole furniture sector. This year, the area hosts CASA RETRO event, a project organized by architect Barbara Villari, president at Classico Italiano and Gruppo del Complemento. It aims at moving among the pillars of past fashion – which always tends to come back – modernly interpreted

Tableware & Kitchenware, all the sector novelties with the big players

Macef January means above all Tableware & Kitchenware. The winter edition of the International Home Show is an unmissable event, a point of reference for all those who, from the big company to the small manufacturer, turn conviviality into their job. Attention to all the top names in the industry, as Macef is the perfect opportunity to present their latest news on the market, from fine china to cookware, latest generation dishes and utensils, designed to offer the best performance in the kitchen. Villeroy&Boch, Mepra, Alluflon, Bialetti, Wmf, Kn Industrie and many other nationally and internationally renowned companies which at Macef “bring to the table” style and quality.

And, a meeting place. The object in use, the household manners, and the professional approach are becoming increasingly popular to engage the public, especially in the kitchen field. The shop looks like a place of deep understanding of the tools and household appliances, of new ways of presenting the goods which enhances the communication of materials features and use of things. A starting point for researching and creating a different definition of the word “shop”.

Special Areas

As part of the continuous renewal and improvement of the exhibition offer, also in January Macef will devote thematic areas to provide its public with original ideas and insights. In particular:

  • Muse d’Italia: Macef proposes the project dedicated to the Italian museum merchandising, showcasing its best output. A little parallel world which is hidden in the major museums often hosting original products created with particular attention to details. The International Home Show brings to light this microcosm through prototypes and models that are already available on the market, objects embodying Italian cultural heritage, faithful reproductions of original art works or reinterpretations. A rich repertoire of products including design and sustainable merchandising.

 

  • Stories of sustainable things: Macef’s attention to ecology develops with an exhibition of selected cases. In particular, from the history of the products, the values related to environmental respect emerge involving materials, production processes, individual and social user behaviors, interventions at the end of product life; examples of different ways of behaving towards environmental issues, approaches experienced by artists and designers, but also solutions which are already in production.

 

  • Home Garden – Il Giardino domestico: the brand-new section at Macef September will be devoted to outdoor living also in the January event, in order to integrate and complete the exhibition offer for a beautiful house both inside and outside. The special area will be transformed into a large colorful garden with items of outdoor furniture, furnishings, accessories and fittings, which, as always, are declined for both private and public spaces.

January 2013 event marks a digital turning point for Macef. Macef+, a brand-new initiative for the exhibition industry, is emerging as a great opportunity both for exhibitors and buyers who can access it after they have been accredited.The International Home Show stands move on the web on the http://www.macefplus.com Website, from 4th Febrary and will remain online for about a month, in order to widen business opportunities and strengthen relationships between the involved players.  A true digital exhibition which reproduces the characteristics of the real event on the Web.

Buyers will be able to visit the stands in every detail at every moment, optimizing their visit to the Fair. All magnified by high-definition, thanks to a sophisticated technology allowing users to see every detail of the offered products. Macef+ stands for + opportunities, + contacts, + negotiations, + time, transforming the International Home Show into the most important digital event in the field of home, tableware, decoration and bijoux.

Meetings, seminars, and congresses

Also in January, the International Home Show proposes a series of meetings to promote an interesting exchange among trade operators . In particular:

  • Mass Retail Channel Seminar

In cooperation with POPAI, prestigious partners specializing in the field of distribution, on its first day Macef organizes a congress entitled “The future of sales points: from centrality of physical stores to multi-channels, to define the future of distribution”. Topics have international scope and will mainly involve the Mass market target.

  • ART meeting, when tableware and gifts become a network

Macef hosts an evening event devoted to ART, the Italian Association of Distributors, Manufacturers and Resellers of tableware, kitchenware, gifts and home décor products.  The evening event features a debate with the main trade associations and will be open to ART members and reference operators.
