The Spring Summer Atelier Versace collection explores the relationships between solid structures and ethereal fabrics. Donatella Versace took inspiration in the architectural splendor of glass domes, where the fragility of glass contrasts with the strength of iron and steel beams, challenging the idea of modern to build ephemeral vaults and roof lights. Metal lines define the construction of the clothes cut into pieces made from 24 carat gold pinstripe, slimming waistlines and emphasizing shoulders. Fitted trousers and skirts cut to the knee create a sleek, streamlined silhouette.
This linear perspective is translated into pleated skirts with gold laminate inserts, reflecting light as they move.
Japanese denim in gold is exclusively developed and interpreted into tailoring.
Vertical strips of mink fur are combined with metal mesh and mixed with three-dimensional embellishments, designed to reflect light like crystal.
Oversized fluorescent leather piping form necklines on dresses, held together with gold zips; they sculpt the body, the fabric suspended from them in geometric pleats in glossy chiffon and silk cady.
This fragile flowing fabric contrasts against the tight dresses worn underneath. The strength of structure and the fragility of glass is transformed into embroideries of clear crystal and mirrored elements. They create a framework of transparency which outlines the body, or appear to float in mid air.
The colour palette is black with gold accents and natural white, meeting fluorescent fuchsia and yellow.
Shoes are molded with a gold heel, seamlessly winding around to clasp the ankle, while a band of clear PVC retains an air of lightness.
