As part of Paris Fashion Week, the Spring Summer 2013 Couture show of fashion designer Georges Chakra took place on the 23rd of January 2013 at the ‘Palais de Tokyo’ in Paris.
Inspired by the futuristic city of Shanghai, the Georges Chakra woman has an urban profile, a certain avant-garde femininity. The lines of the collection are energetic: cuts are structured, silhouettes fascinating, busts corseted, necklines graphic and shoulders sensually exhibited. A series of bold geometric cuts combined with transparent tulle, like a second skin, exudes a very glamorous graphism.
Couture fabrics came in an endless variety of textures ranging from luscious layers of chiffon, tulle, organza, Guipure lace, to satin and silk… Vivid colors, like flashes of city lights, run from a palette of neon blue, pink, yellow, orange, turquoise and green. Embroideries with sequins and Swarovski stones give the collection an overall feel of urban beat.
The wedding dress concluded the fashion show on a subtle romantic yet modern note.
