MONTE-CARLO CONCOURS D’ELEGANCE BY EBERHARD & CO.

The 4th Edition of the « Monte-Carlo Concours d’Elégance » by Eberhard & Co. took place on the mythical port Hercules of the Principality of Monaco from April 4th through April 7th 2013, joining forces on this occasion with the famous glass manufacturer Lalique, and the Monaco Motor Legend – Monaco Motor Show. These shows’ series have encompassed since 2010 vehicles that have shaped the modern automotive history. After some weather uncertainties rapidly cleared away by a bright sunshine, these events have gathered more than sixty booths representing the classic car world through clubs, professionals, and renowned European collectors.

Mecca of luxury and exceptional automobiles, the Principality of Monaco was able to house within the Monaco Motor Legend and the Monte-Carlo Concours d’Elégance by Eberhard & Co. a panel of some 150 exceptional vehicles, of which 25 cars beyond standards, registered to the competition. These “elegant beauties” have previously been rigorously screened by  Yves Rebet whose control and expertise were particularly focused on the historical interest and the rarity of each model. The Swiss watch manufacturer Eberhard & Co., as main sponsor of the event, on this occasion had the opportunity to pay tribute to Tazio Nuvolari « le plus grand coureur d’hier, d’aujourd’hui et de demain » (Ferdinand Porsche). Visitors could admire at the same time private collection vehicles of SAS Prince Albert II of Monaco, as well as the Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 “Monza” (1931), kindly lent by the Alfa Romeo museum, on which Tazio Nuvolari won the Monaco Grand Prix of 1932.

On this occasion, the emblematic Eberhard & Co. collection has been presented, starting with the iconic model Chrono 4, the first chronograph in the watch history equipped with 4 aligned counters, the 8 Days model distinguished by an exceptional movement reserve and of course the Tazio Nuvolari collection, inspired and dedicated to the impressive Mantua pilot.

After a joyful parade in the streets of the Principality and on the mythical Grand Prix race track, the “Carabiniers” of S.A.S. Prince Albert II of Monaco allowed the privilege to greet these racing and smart classic cars on the famous Palace Square to pose for a commemorative photograph. Afterword, the exceptional convoy, with a motorcycle escort of the Monaco Police, headed to the Port Hercules, streaming in front of the jury.

Animated by Claude Julian, a recognized Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix speaker, the jury was ruled by Mario Peserico, Managing Director of Eberhard & Co., assisted by Régis Deweer and Yves Rebet as master of ceremonies, with the task to deliberate the winners of the 2013 edition.

The nominated  laureates have been awarded with the Lalique trophies, “Speed”, “Victory” and “Eagle”. Emblematic partner of the event, Lalique is universally recognized as the major French glass Maison of the 20th century.

Mario Peserico, on behalf of Eberhard & Co., delivered the “Best-In-Show” award: a prestigious Chrono 4 Wall-Clock, an object in which the watch-making expertise of the Maison that created the emblematic Chrono 4 chronograph meets interior design.
