Hermès rarities claimed the auction’s top 10 spots including a 30cm Matte White Himalayan Crocodile Birkin Bag with Palladium Hardware, which sold for $89,500, a 35cm Shiny Gris Elephant Porosus Crocodile Birkin Bag with Palladium Hardware, which reached $86,500, and aHorseshoe One-of-a-Kind 35cm Shiny Rose Scheherazade Porosus Crocodile Birkin Bag with Rose Tyrien Interior and Gold Har, earned $74,500.
“The continued growth of this category at Heritage, as well as across the general marketplace, speaks to the true potential it holds in the future,” said Matt Rubinger, Director of Luxury Accessories at Heritage Auctions, “With 100% of lots sold at very strong numbers, we’re satisfied with this outcome.”
Among the lots sold were a Hermès 35 cm Shiny Blue Electric Porosus Crocodile Birkin Bag with Palladium Hardware, which brought $61,250, a Hermès 35cm Matte Rouge H Porosus Crocodile Birkin Bag with Palladium Hardware, which fetched $59,375 and a Hermes Extraordinary Collection 18 cm Diamond Blue Jean Porosus Crocodile Double-Gusset Constance Bag with 18K White Gold Hardware, which realized $50,000.
The debut of two Hermès bags from well-known collector and style icon Kim Kardashian were well received as a Hermès 40cm Limited Edition Veau Doblis & Barenia Grizzly Birkin Bag with Permabrass Hardware sold for $18,125 and a Hermès 50cm Orange H Swift Leather Kelly Relax Shoulder Bag with Palladium Hardware, realized $11,875.
The auction featured a number of vintage handbags from other collectible brands, such as a rare 1960s Bulgari Stunning 18K Yellow Gold Melone Minaudiere Evening Bag with a 1.21 carat round diamond clasp, which sold for $31,250, a Chanel Blue & Silver Crocodile Paris-Byzance Collection Gripoix East West Flap Bag, which brought $8,125, and a Louis Vuitton Classic Monogram Canvas Pegase 55 Suitcase, sold for seven-times its opening bid at $3,750.
