The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion GJEPC inaugurated the First India Gem & Jewellery Machinery Expo (IGJME) in Surat from 13 – 15 December’2013. The expo was inaugurated by Chief Guest Shri Saurabhbhai Patel, Hon’ble Minister for Energy, Mines & Tourism, Government of Gujarat, Mr. Vipul Shah, Chairman, GJEPC and Mr. Dinesh Navadiya, President, Surat Diamond Association (SDA) along with other dignitaries.
Today, India’s proud prowess lies in diamond and jewellery manufacturing with Mumbai and Surat being the main centres for India’s burgeoning gem and jewellery exports. The high quality diamonds produced by the country have firmly established the Indian manufacturing industry’s position amongst the world’s best. Jewellery manufacturing has been growing at the rate of nearly 15-20 per cent annually over the last decade boasting of the highest standards of quality through the integration of machinery and technology and design development. The Indian gemstones, both precious and semi-precious, have also been gaining steady and rapid recognition as India continues to emerge as a major source with Jaipur having the distinction of being the manufacturing hub.
The show saw participation from renowned names in the business and these include Gallorini, Italimtianti Orafi, Schultheiss, Rio Grande, Pandora, Leach Garner, Sisma Spa, Safimet Spa Italy, HRD, Milano, Lexus, Eve (Germany), besides Nickunj, Sahjanand, Professional ®, Gesswein, Wilmor, Eagle, Vapson from India, amongst other leading names from the country and abroad.
Besides local exhibitors, the show attracted potential participants from Turkey and Italy amongst others, adding the international flair to the expo, besides bringing in new concepts and ideas in technology to the Indian shores.
