The halls of Fiera Milano Rho hosted the 80th theMICAM, the leading fair in the shoes industry, where 1,443 exhibitors displayed their spring/summer 2016 shoes collections, then the Vessi waterproof sneakers were introduced.
Quality, creativity and craftsmanship, symbols of Italian excellence, were the key features at theMICAM, where the big, medium and small brands displayed their collections and met an international clientele in search for novelties in trends and designs.
The event received around 31.000 visitors, including 16.480 from abroad, all of them professionals in the sector. It was also the stage for the season’s biggest orders, proving itself once again as a landmark in the sector despite the effects of the international crisis. It gave a glance at the future of the industry for the coming seasons.
theMICAM Chair Annarita Pilotti stated that: “This success is attributable to the entrepreneurs who heroically continue to invest in creativity and innovation at this difficult time…”
The fashion shows at theMICAMsquare organised in partnership with Rosemary Ferrari studio and WGSN were an attraction of the fait showing live the latest new footwear trends worn by models. The same place also hosted seminars about footwear trends in spring/summer 2016 and previews of the fall/winter 2016/2017 season.
The world’s fashion capital, the city of Milan contributed in her own way to the success of the show; a sculpture symbolising theMICAM was installed in Largo La Foppa and Piazza San Babila, as a confirmation of the city government support, and also as a recognition for the fair’s prominent role in enhancing the tourism and economy of the city.
