A powerful and feminine Montblanc watch line expresses the Bohème spirit
In the world of Montblanc, being bohème is much more than a style, it’s a state of mind. The bohème woman is confident, creative, and always true to herself. She pushes herself to reach her goals, never giving up on her dreams. These values and aspirations are captured in the Montblanc Bohème collection, translating them into a feminine watchmaking line. This year, Montblanc celebrates this modern woman with the introduction of Montblanc Bohème Day & Night and Montblanc Bohème Perpetual Calendar Limited Edition 88.
To honor the modern woman, Montblanc introduces the Montblanc Bohème Day & Night 34 mm. This complication shows multiple facets evolving over time, just like women who express their multiple sides through their unique sense of style.
In line with the Montblanc Bohème aesthetic, the silvery-white dial is crafted with traditional decorative techniques, such as guilloché and gem-setting, and includes leaf-shaped hands, minute scales with raised dots, and an internal hour ring. The timepiece reveals finishes that are further accentuated by a strong design with applied floral Arabic numerals, eight large diamond indexes, and blue date numerals, all of which provide elegance and legibility. Furthermore, the Day & Night complication features a geometrical pattern inspired by the Art Déco style. This indication follows the ever-changing sky from the rising sun to the poetic moonlight.
This timepiece has a polished case with slightly curved, faceted horns and a sculpted onion crown with a mother-of-pearl insert that reproduces the shape of the Montblanc emblem. Completing the overall design, the Montblanc Bohème Day & Night 34 mm seduces with a new blue calf strap with large alligator-style scales and an interchangeable strap mechanism, allowing her to easily change styles whenever she wishes, true to the point of celebrating multiple facets. The Montblanc Bohème Day & Night 34 mm is available with a stainless steel bracelet or in a bi-colour version with an 18 K rose gold bezel set with 72 Top Wesselton diamonds. The timepiece also comes in 30 mm with different straps including a bund strap without clasp, reminiscence of the Montblanc Bohème style.
Launching in a limited edition of just 88 pieces the Montblanc Bohème Perpetual Calendar Limited Edition 88 is a feminine interpretation of the codes of fine watchmaking. The timepiece shimmers like a starry night sky with a new Aventurine glass dial and a bezel set with diamonds. Aventurine comes from “adventure” and “chance” and was first produced in Murano, Venice in the 15th century. It was invented by the Italian glassmakers of the day who blended tiny particles of copper into batches of molten glass, resulting in this deep blue sparkling glass. It is also referred to as “astralite” in reference to its starry sky aesthetic that fascinates and inspires all those who set eyes upon it.
The limitation number of 88 pieces is a reference to the number eight, a powerful number that has intrigued man for centuries because of its infinite shape. In many cultures, the number eight is also associated with good fortune.
A statement of style, the Montblanc Bohème Perpetual Calendar Limited Edition 88 comes in a 38 mm 18 K white gold case set with 58 Top Wesselton diamonds on the bezel (approx. 1.392 ct). It features a polished finishing with slightly curved and faceted horns, as well as a sculpted onion crown adorned with the diamond reproducing the shape of Montblanc emblem.
The Montblanc Bohème Perpetual Calendar Limited Edition 88 is powered by the Manufacture movement calibre MB 29.22 featuring a patented Perpetual Calendar mechanism, that indicates the day, date, month, leap year and a second time zone from the centre combined with a 24-hour display and a Day & Night at 9 o’clock. It is one of the most readable perpetual calendars with well-positioned indications and the possibility of setting the time both forwards and backwards through the crown, which allows the rapid adjustment of one month in under a minute. The watch offers a beautiful view on a realistic domed moonphase surrounded by a starry sky which is extremely precise and only requires adjustment every 122 years.
Launched two years ago, the perpetual calendar complication took three years to develop due to movement’s complexity. Protected by a patent, the Manufacture calibre comprises 378 components of which 259 are dedicated to the perpetual calendar function. It is composed solely of wheels and cams, in contrast to most perpetual calendars that use levers. This mechanism first enables the user to adjust the watch via the crown in both directions which would not be possible with levers. Secondly, thanks to a safety feature, it prevents any setting between the hours of 6 pm and 12 pm, when manipulation could damage the movement.
To complete the overall design, the Montblanc Bohème Perpetual Calendar Limited Edition 88 is fitted with a blue alligator strap featuring an 18 K white gold pin buckle set with a diamond (approx. 0.009 ct).
