Matilde Mozzanega is a talented contemporary jewellery designer based in London, who has already made a name for herself within the industry.
Originally from Milan, Mozzanega graduated from Central Saint Martins with a first-class honours degree in Jewellery Design in 2018. She then spent a year in Florence attending an MFA degree at Alchimia School of Jewellery and Body Ornaments, further honing her craft.
Mozzanega’s current work revolves around contemporary jewellery and sustainability. She is particularly interested in non-precious materials and how to repurpose them, in order to challenge the traditional ideas of preciousness and value within society. Her pieces often combine precious and recycled materials, giving new life to the latter.
Mozzanega’s most recent collection, CHROMO-DOPE, was showcased at the Homi Fashion&Jewels exhibition in Milan, held from 17 to 20 February 2023. The collection explores the concept of transformation and interchangeability within jewellery. Experimenting with unconventional materials, Mozzanega pushes the boundaries of what is considered valuable and desirable within the jewellery industry.
Aside from creating her own pieces, Mozzanega also works as a consultant for several London-based brands, and is a freelance jewellery and manufacturing tutor at the British Academy of Jewellery in London. Her passion for sustainability and non-traditional materials has already gained her recognition within the industry, and it will be exciting to see what innovative designs she comes up with next.
