The Jewellery, Gem & Technology in Dubai (JGTD) fair, held from 12 to 14 November 2024, brought a world of glittering possibilities to the Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC).
In its third edition, JGTD reinforced its position as a must-attend B2B event, drawing over 350 exhibitors from more than 25 countries, including major first-time participants from China, Southeast Asia, Sri Lanka, and the United States. With a layout spanning 16 vibrant neighborhoods and featuring nine country and regional pavilions, the event catered to the needs of global buyers keen to explore an impressive array of finished and semi-finished jewelry, loose diamonds, gemstones, and groundbreaking jewelry technology.
A distinctive highlight this year was the Dubai City of Gold Pavilion, curated by Dubai Jewellery Group (DJG), which featured ten premier UAE manufacturers. This section dedicated to the expertise and innovation behind Dubai’s renowned jewelry industry, showcased brands like Jawhara, Al Fayhaa, and Oro Precious Metals. The Dubai Jewel Narratives by DBGGJD, another new thematic addition, gave attendees insights into Dubai’s unique jewelry aesthetics and narratives. Technology also took center stage, with more than 80 exhibitors from Europe, Asia, and North America presenting innovations ranging from advanced 3D printing to CVD diamond testers, with Italian companies Sisma and Faro among the headliners.
The event also made waves in the design world, thanks to Trendvision Jewellery + Forecasting debut at the show with its first-ever ROADSHOW. Paola De Luca, co-founder and creative director, captivated audiences by unveiling WONDERLAND, the 2026+ edition of The Jewellery Trendbook, which reimagines luxury through cross-cultural influences and bold design philosophies. This ROADSHOW marked a significant milestone, connecting industry leaders with exclusive trend insights at JGTD.
Adding to the networking and celebratory atmosphere, the UAE-ITALY Golden Bridge Awards honored influential high-volume buyers from Dubai Gold Souk, emphasizing the strong commercial ties between Italy and Dubai. The Middle East Jewellery Designers Forum, organized by The New Jeweller and held on November 13, included sessions on “Emerging Jewellery Designers” and “Advancements in Technology,” addressing the creative shift toward more innovative and technology-driven jewelry designs. Another major event was the Ebdaa International Jewellery Design Awards, where the works of rising global design talents received recognition on the Golden Stage of JGTD.
Taking place alongside Dubai Diamond Week, hosted by the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC), JGTD 2024 highlighted Dubai’s growing influence in the international diamond and jewelry sectors. DMCC’s Executive Chairman, Ahmed Bin Sulayem, emphasized the city’s unique position as a global meeting hub for the industry, noting that events like the Dubai Diamond Conference and the Kimberley Process Plenary Session reflect Dubai’s commitment to shaping a resilient future for the jewelry trade.
For attendees, JGTD was a trove of insights and business opportunities. The three-day show offered a captivating blend of heritage and innovation, from Italian artisanal jewelry brands to cutting-edge technology solutions, making it a rich platform for knowledge exchange and a celebration of the craftsmanship that continues to shape the global jewelry industry.
