SAJEX 2025, GJEPC LAUNCHES LANDMARK GEM & JEWELLERY FAIR IN SAUDI ARABIA

In a decisive moment for the global jewellery industry, the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) of India has officially launched SAJEX – The Saudi Arabia Jewellery Exposition, a new B2B platform designed to become the Kingdom’s premier international jewellery trade fair. The inaugural edition will take place at the Jeddah Superdome from 11 to 13 September 2025, offering a carefully curated, high-calibre stage for cross-border collaboration, innovation, and strategic growth.

Unveiled through curtain-raiser events in Jeddah and Riyadh earlier this July, SAJEX marks a major milestone, not only for India-Saudi economic relations but also for the broader MENA region’s ascent in the global luxury trade landscape.

With over 280 Saudi stakeholders attending the launch events, including top-tier retailers, wholesalers, and manufacturers, the industry’s response has been nothing short of enthusiastic. SAJEX is the physical manifestation of a deepening bilateral relationship between two historic cultures united by their passion for craftsmanship, precious materials, and innovation.

“India and Saudi Arabia share a strategic and deep-rooted relationship, and SAJEX reflects this evolving bond”, noted Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan, Ambassador of India to Saudi Arabia. “This initiative opens new avenues for bilateral partnerships, drives cultural exchange through craftsmanship, and contributes meaningfully to Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals”.

With support from India’s Ministry of Commerce & Industry, the Embassy and Consulate General of India, and the Dubai Jewellery Group, SAJEX promises to be a powerhouse of international participation. Over 200 exhibitors across 250 booths will represent India, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Turkey, Hong Kong, and Lebanon. The event meticulously planned to be a high-value networking and sourcing hub, is already expected to attract more than 2,000 trade buyers.

The product spectrum will be wide and refined—ranging from diamond and coloured gemstone-studded jewellery, 18kt, 21kt, and 22kt plain gold jewellery, platinum and lab-grown diamond creations, to bridal, prêt-à-porter, and gifting lines, alongside cutting-edge jewellery technology.

The strategic vision of SAJEX of being an investment platform is what truly sets it apart. The debut edition will feature the World Jewellery Investment Forum, co-hosted by the GJEPC and Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Investment, bringing together global stakeholders to explore investment opportunities throughout the value chain, from design and manufacturing to retail and tech.

The Kingdom’s jewellery sector is on the cusp of transformation, as Kirit Bhansali, Chairman of GJEPC, emphasized: “With a projected market value of USD 8.34 billion by 2030, Saudi Arabia is becoming a key growth engine in the global jewellery trade.” Backed by a GDP of USD 1.1 trillion, and a growing consumer base eager for high-end and heritage-rich luxury, the country is ripe for becoming a global hub for jewellery design, production, and investment.

Nirav Bhansali, Convener of National Exhibitions at GJEPC, captured the essence of SAJEX’s mission: “SAJEX is not just about showcasing exquisite jewellery — it’s about building meaningful bridges between two vibrant markets. By bringing 200 of India’s top exporters to Jeddah, GJEPC is laying the foundation for a deeper, more collaborative jewellery trade with Saudi Arabia, backed by shared innovation, design, and growth.”

Stakeholders from the Jeddah and Riyadh Chambers of Commerce, as well as the Jeddah Jewellery Association, echoed this sentiment, lauding the initiative as timely, strategic, and impactful for Saudi Arabia’s evolving jewellery ecosystem.

In keeping with the evolving nature of international trade events, SAJEX will offer much more than exhibition space. Highlights include:

  • Knowledge Talks led by industry experts
  • A Design Atelier to spotlight innovation in form and material
  • Curated networking sessions for strategic matchmaking
  • Bespoke partnerships and tie-ups to accelerate market penetration
  • The event promises to deliver a multi-dimensional experience, blending high-level dialogue with real business outcomes.
