LES CABINOTIERS TEMPORIS DUO GRAND COMPLICATION OPENFACE BY VACHERON CONSTANTIN

In a world that races forward, Vacheron Constantin dares to pause, to observe, refine, and reimagine the essence of horology. With “Les Cabinotiers Temporis Duo Grand Complication Openface”, the Geneva-based Maison invites collectors, connoisseurs, and aesthetes to witness time not just measured, but sculpted, breathed into being with a pulse of ingenuity and soul.

This is a single-piece edition that synthesizes over two centuries of mechanical mastery into 45mm of 5N pink gold. Beneath its transparent sapphire dial lies a kinetic symphony, a minute repeater, a split-seconds chronograph, and a tourbillon, united in a poetic ballet of precision.

At the heart of this creation beats Calibre 2757 S, a manually wound movement composed of 696 components, each individually hand-finished. That number alone speaks volumes, but it’s the execution that astounds. Viewed through its open-worked façade, the movement becomes an architectural wonder,  polished bevels, sandblasted bridges, grained finishes, and satin textures perform a quiet dance in contrasting metallic hues, all visible and all celebrated.

The chronograph operates with dual column wheels, delicately engineered for 1/5th-second accuracy. The minute repeater’s flyweight governor, silent in operation, regulates acoustic purity with centripetal grace. The tourbillon, mounted with a spherical hairspring, breathes with a precision rarely seen outside of marine chronometers.

The transparent sapphire dial, barely 0.5mm thick, is frosted and polished in intricate harmony. The hour markers, subtly treated with grey NAC, echo against the olive green chronograph hands and matching alligator strap. Even the back of the watch is a canvas of horological poetry: its blackened bridges sandblasted and mirror-polished, its governor engraved with a tribute to Jean-Marc Vacheron himself.

Such finishing, as Christian Selmoni, Vacheron Constantin’s Style & Heritage Director, explains, demanded twice the time it took to assemble and regulate the movement. This speaks not of indulgence, but of reverence. It is craftsmanship elevated to philosophy, an ethos distilled from the 18th-century Cabinotiers who worked in the light-filled attics of Geneva, crafting masterpieces for kings and visionaries.

Indeed, this timepiece is not only a tribute to history but a resolute declaration of the present, that in a digital age, analog artistry still reigns supreme. Les Cabinotiers Temporis Duo Grand Complication Openface does not simply tell time, it honours it, honours the hands that built it, and the centuries of knowledge it carries in every tick.
