The air inside the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center hums with a distinct energy, a fusion of quiet concentration and the palpable thrill of discovery. Under the gleaming lights of over 2,600 booths, magnifying glasses hover over rare gemstones, hands shake over six-figure orders, and the future of design is debated in earnest tones.
This is the 72nd Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair, and from 9 to 13 September, it became the undeniable nucleus of the global trade, proving once more that the prowess of Thailand extends far beyond craftsmanship into shaping the very currents of the industry.
From the bustling aisles to the packed seminar rooms, the message was clear: this is where the industry’s most serious players come to source, learn, and connect. Organized by the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) and the Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (GIT), the fair was a dynamic, living marketplace and a masterclass in the state of the global jewelry business.
The halls were a symphony of serious commerce from day one, as the dynamic trade negotiations filled the air with international buyers, from retail chains to independent designers, engaged directly with manufacturers and suppliers underscoring the fair’s significance as a trusted global platform where deals are sealed.
Beyond the transactions, the fair served as a critical nexus for knowledge and innovation. The rich seminar programme, a highlight for many professionals, offered deep dives into the industry’s future. Sessions on topics as diverse as AI-powered jewellery design, navigating new tariffs, and the intricacies of Colombian emeralds and Greenland rubies provided attendees with the strategic insights needed to navigate the evolving market landscape. The concurrent Thailand Gold Forum 2025, featuring experts from the World Gold Council, further highlighted Southeast Asia’s growing clout in the global gold trade.
While business was the primary engine, the soul of the fair was its celebration of artistry. The special exhibition, “Gilded Soul: The Ethos of Thai Craftsmanship”, was a profound cultural highlight. It masterfully reframed Thai jewellery, presenting it as a poetic narrative of heritage, wisdom, and timeless artistry, a “poem of memories” that deeply resonated with visitors.
Complementing this homage to tradition was the New Faces zone, a vibrant incubator for the industry’s future. Here, a bold new generation of Thai designers, trained at leading institutions and nurtured by incubator programs, showcased their work. Blending traditional Thai artistry with avant-garde forms and a strong spirit of sustainability, these emerging talents are pushing boundaries and setting new benchmarks, offering buyers fresh inspiration and original designs.
The core strength of this exhibition is the unparalleled position as a sourcing hub. The entire LG level and foyer were dedicated to gemstones, effectively making Bangkok Gems the world’s largest temporary gemstone capital. Buyers had the unique advantage of examining rare coloured stones and exceptional quality pieces up-close, instantly comparing offerings from hundreds of trusted suppliers, and negotiating face-to-face for better results.
This one-stop-shop ecosystem, offering everything from raw materials and exquisite finished pieces to essential machinery, tools, and OEM/ODM solutions, is what keeps over 40,000 buyers from more than 100 countries returning year after year.
The 72nd edition of Bangkok Gems was a resounding statement, it successfully wove together every thread of the modern jewellery industry: the awe of high craftsmanship, the sharp focus of strategic sourcing, the disruptive energy of emerging talent, and the critical conversations that will shape the future of the trade.
For the global professional audience, the message was clear, Bangkok is a true and enduring powerhouse. The fair demonstrated that Thailand’s industry is built on a dynamic ecosystem of skilled artisans, innovative manufacturers, and forward-thinking designers, a ecosystem that is both deeply rooted in tradition and confidently focused on the future. The jewellery world has once again been reminded that for serious sourcing, trend forecasting, and partnership building, Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair is an unmissable date on the calendar.
