Cyrus Genève has consistently carved a distinct path in the world of independent haute horlogerie, and at the 7th edition of Dubai Watch Week, the Maison was poised to make a definitive statement with the unveiling of the Dominion Jawhar, a limited edition of just 28 pieces that embodies the very soul of exclusivity and technical mastery.
Designed by the renowned master watchmaker Jean-François Mojon, the Dominion Jawhar is a philosophical statement. The name “Jawhar,” meaning “essence” in Arabic, was chosen to signify the core of high-end watchmaking. Every exceptional timepiece, according to the Maison, possesses a soul, a precious essence that transcends its mechanical function. The Dominion Jawhar is the physical manifestation of this belief, representing “hidden refinement: time shaped with precision, polished by the reflections of light, and revealed in its purest splendour.”
The watch immediately commands attention with its 42mm case crafted from Grade 5 titanium, a material prized for its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio and hypoallergenic properties. The case’s architecture is a study in contrasts, featuring alternating polished and satin-brushed finishes that play with light and shadow. Its design is defined by elongated lugs with distinctive inserts, which seamlessly integrate the watch’s two functional crowns. This unique profile highlights the structural sophistication and unconventional thinking that define the Dominion collection.
Beneath the surface lies the self-winding CYR708 calibre, the true soul of the Jawhar. Developed by Mojon and produced in Cyrus Genève’s manufacture in Le Locle, this in-house movement is a formidable engine composed of 278 components. It features a variable-inertia balance wheel oscillating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and offers a robust 55-hour power reserve, ensuring precision and reliability.
The movement’s finishing is visible through the sapphire crystal case back, the bridges, treated with a dark NAC coating, are adorned with embossed rays that alternate between brushed and micro-beaded finishes. Each beveled edge is meticulously polished to catch the light from every angle. The openworked, 5N red gold-plated oscillating weight, bearing the signature rhodium-plated helix logo, is engraved with the Cyrus Genève motto, “The Conquest of Innovation”, a fitting creed for a timepiece of such ambition.
The Dominion Jawhar is presented on a black alligator leather strap, secured with a personalised titanium pin buckle, ensuring a cohesive and comfortable wear. Limited to just 28 pieces, this creation is designed for the true connoisseur, the collector who seeks not just a timekeeper, but a wearable work of art that symbolizes rarity, distinction, and an unwavering commitment to horological excellence.
