Venezianico, the Venetian-born watchmaker, has articulated a distinct voice while upholding the highest technical standards with its latest release, the Redentore Utopia II. This timepiece represents a maturation of the brand’s ambitious Made-in-Italy movementproject, blending mechanical sophistication with artisanal storytelling in a manner that resonates deeply within the luxury B2B landscape.
At the core of the Redentore Utopia II beats the V5001 caliber, developed in collaboration with OISA and designed by Fausto Berizzi and Andrea Menegazzo, the technical director of Venezianico. While its architecture remains faithful to the preceding V5000, retaining a slim 3.5 mm profile, a 60-hour power reserve, and a precision of ±3 seconds per day, the V5001 elevates finishing to an art form. Bridges and the mainplate are treated with a 24-carat gold galvanic coating, complemented by radial Côtes de Genève, fine perlage, and double-snailing on the wheels. Even components hidden from view receive meticulous attention, reflecting a philosophy where every part contributes to both performance and aesthetics.
For industry observers, this represents a significant statement: an in-house Italian movement is no longer an experiment but a credible, refined reality. As CEO Alberto Morelli notes, “With Utopia II, we chose to push the project further, making the movement not only the technical heart but the aesthetic protagonist of the watch.”
The dial has been developed with Atelier Renzetti, a fourth-generation workshop specializing in hand-guilloché, the Marea pattern is engraved entirely by hand on 19th-century rose-engine lathes. Each dial becomes a micro-sculpture, capturing the ever-shifting light and motion of the Venetian lagoon. In a world increasingly dominated by CNC machining, this manual, time-intensive craftsmanship is both a differentiator and a declaration of values.
The Utopia II is offered in two interpretations, each reflecting a distinct facet of Venetian identity:
Alpha: A gold-toned galvanic finish that echoes the city’s ornamental heritage, paired with a black calfskin strap.
Beta: A deep graphite finish inspired by structural elements—wrought iron, mooring posts, and the hidden supports that keep Venice afloat—accompanied by a hand-finished saffiano leather strap.
Both versions are housed in a classically proportioned 38mm stainless steel case, just 8.9 mm thick, ensuring the piece remains elegantly wearable while allowing the dial and movement to command attention.
The approach of Venezianico offers a case study in brand-building through collaboration, patience, and clear identity. By partnering with specialists like Atelier Renzetti and investing in local talent, the brand strengthens its narrative of authenticity and artisanship.
The Utopia II highlights a growing trend, the convergence of technical mastery and aesthetic refinement as equally important pillars of luxury watchmaking. For retailers and industry partners, this represents not just a new product, but a coherent vision of what Italian haute horlogerie can be, rooted in place, executed with precision, and presented with poetic sensibility.
