VACHERON CONSTANTIN REIMAGINES HAUTE JOAILLERIE

In the world of haute horlogerie and high jewellery, the pursuit of versatility without compromise is one of the most complex challenges.

With the introduction of three new interpretations of the Grand Lady Kalla, Vacheron Constantin not only meets this challenge but masterfully redefines it, presenting a collection that is as technically ingenious as it is aesthetically sublime.

Launched in October 2025, the Grand Lady Kalla collection expands with three variations, each a symphony of coloured gemstones: Sapphire and Ruby set in 18K white gold, and Emerald set in 950 platinum. This strategic move introduces a vibrant chromatic palette to a lineage defined by monochromatic brilliance, tracing its roots back to the iconic, one-of-a-kind Kallista of 1979.

The most significant innovation, first introduced with the Grand Lady Kalla in 2024 and further refined here, is its transformative nature. The collection is conceived not as a single timepiece, but as a comprehensive jewellery system. Each model comprises four fully gem-set elements:

A bracelet watch, a three-row rivière-style bracelet, a standalone jewel piece, and a long sautoir necklace with a tassel. These components are engineered with a hidden, tool-free interchangeability system, allowing the wearer to configure the set in four distinct ways. This modularity directly addresses the evolving desires of the high jewellery clientele for pieces that offer adaptability, personalization, and maximum wearability from a single, significant investment.

The choice of gem cuts is a deliberate and informed one, speaking directly to connoisseurs. The emerald cut, used for the diamonds and coloured stones on the case, bracelet, and jewel piece, was selected for its elegant, step-like facets that complement the rectilinear Art Deco-inspired architecture of the design. This cut emphasizes the clarity and depth of colour in a stone, a feature typically reserved for gems of the highest quality.

Conversely, the central stone on each jewel piece features a rare sugarloaf cut. This domed, non-faceted cut allows light to penetrate and illuminate the gem in a unique way, enhancing its colour saturation and offering a tactile, sculptural counterpoint to the geometric emerald cuts.

A closer inspection reveals a signature detail where each setting claw is meticulously shaped like a branch of the Maltese Cross, Vacheron Constantin’s emblem. Where four stones meet, a complete cross is formed. Furthermore, all clasps, fastenings, and the time-setting crown are entirely concealed beneath the gemstones, preserving the piece’s unbroken aesthetic flow.

By anchoring the Grand Lady Kalla in the storied “Kalla” lineage, which includes GPHG-winning models, Vacheron Constantin shows continuous innovation in women’s jewellery watches. The collection is a direct heir to a legacy that began over a century ago, where gemstones transitioned from decoration to the very essence of the design.

For the trade, this launch highlights the commitment of Vacheron Constantin to dominating the high jewellery watch segment. It demonstrates a deep understanding of both its heritage and the contemporary market’s demand for technical innovation, narrative depth, and functional versatility. The Grand Lady Kalla is a strategic pillar designed to captivate the most discerning collectors by offering a timeless piece that is, quite literally, transformative.
