This August, Mumbai once again becomes the epicenter of the global gem and jewellery trade as the India International Jewellery Show (IIJS) Bharat Premiere 2026 opens its doors. Organized by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), this 42nd edition carries particular significance as it celebrates 25 years of the show’s B2B format, cementing its place as the world’s second-largest gem and jewellery business-to-business exhibition.
The scale alone speaks to the show’s stature. This year’s edition brings together more than 2,100 exhibitors and is expected to welcome upwards of 50,000 trade visitors from over 1,300 cities across India, alongside international buyers representing close to 80 countries. For an industry built on relationships as much as craftsmanship, IIJS Bharat Premiere remains an unmatched meeting point for manufacturers, exporters, retailers, designers, and buyers.
Among the most notable shifts this year is the relocation of the Gemstones section to the Jio World Convention Centre (JWCC), placing the world’s finest coloured gemstones and diamonds within one of India’s most iconic exhibition venues. The move reflects the show’s continuous evolution, positioning the category alongside the newly expanded Select Club, an exclusive showcase of high-end couture jewellery from more than 110 distinguished exhibitors, housed in Jasmine Hall.
Elsewhere, the show’s breadth is on full display, a dedicated Loose Stone Diamonds showcase featuring over 60 companies and 100 stalls, a growing Lab Grown Diamonds section with 40-plus companies, and an expansive presentation of diamond, gemstone, and studded jewellery across 523 companies and more than 1,000 stalls at the Bombay Exhibition Centre (BEC).
Craftsmanship rooted in heritage also takes centre stage at the GI Craft Pavilion, where India’s Geographical Indication-tagged jewellery traditions, including temple jewellery from Nagercoil, Assamese jewellery, silver filigree from Karimnagar, and Kolkatti jewellery, are brought to life through live artisan demonstrations.
Running alongside the exhibition floor, the Innov8 Talks knowledge series gathers an impressive roster of global voices. Sessions this year span the future of natural and lab-grown diamonds, the forces shaping gold and silver markets, and the growing role of social media and creativity in jewellery business growth, with speakers drawn from De Beers Group, GIA, the World Gold Council, CPM Group, and a cross-section of international jewellery influencers and industry leaders.
The event has also drawn recognition at the highest levels, with messages of support from India’s Prime Minister and Finance Minister underscoring the sector’s growing weight in the country’s economy and its standing on the world stage. At the IIJS Bharat Celebration Night, GJEPC will honour veteran Middle East jewellery leader Tawhid Abdullah, Chairman of the Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group, for his contribution to the international gem and jewellery trade.
Fittingly themed “Music of India,” this year’s edition promises not only serious business, but a celebration of the culture and craftsmanship that continues to define the country’s jewellery identity.
