THE INTERNATIONAL CORDOVAN JEWELLERY MEETING, STARTING UP IN SUCCESS

The first International Jewellery Meeting in Cordoba took place at the Palacio de Vianato, in the historical Spanish city Cordoba, between 14 and 20 October 2013.

Initiated by the Jewellery Association, and driven by the Chamber of Commerce of Cordoba, the Cordoba Provincial Council, the City council of Cordoba and the Andalusia Govern, the event made of Cordoba, for the duration of a whole week, the platform of b2b meetings putting together Cordovan jewelers and foreign buyers attending from diverse countries.

The activities organized during the “meeting” were diverse; technical conferences were held featuring lectures by experts from different markets and tackling current industry marketing issues. A jewelry exhibition was also held showcasing exclusive pieces that summarized the history of the industry and showed the image of luxury and quality of the Cordovan jewellery.

Another success of the International Meeting was the Reverse Trade Mission which included the participation of 23 Spanish companies and 20 foreign companies and was based on dialogue and business. This “Panel of Expecience” was attended by jewellers from Croatia, Estonia, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Belgium, France, Lebanon and the Netherlands, who conducted direct contacts with the participating Cordovan companies.

These days not only served to learn, but also to do business” said Milagrosa Gómez, president of the Provincial Association of Jewelers, Silversmiths and Watchmakers San Eloy of Cordova, who noted that Cordovan jewelers have “internationalize their designs counting with entrepreneurs and experts in the field”.

The majority of the buyers attending these meetings have shown their utmost admiration for the new approach for jewelry they had the opportunity to encounter through direct contacts with the Cordovan manufacturers. They emphasized the potential of the introduction of this new spirit in jewellery into their domestic markets, of course, each according to his country.

It is always worthy to mention the social activities organized in the frame of the meetings which enabled foreign visitors to explore the splendors Cordoba city has to offer; among others, Barbie’s exposition held in the Mercado Victoria, and the parade of jewels “Dress your skin with a jewel” hosted at the Patio Barroco de la Merced, headquarters of the Council, which put under the spotlights the best pieces from Cordovan designers and jewelers.
