Jaipur, the city of gems, is one of the most vibrant and successful Gem & Jewellery clusters in India. The city is known for its fine gem cutting, polishing and Jewellery craftsmanship world over.
In a tribute to its rich heritage, its masterly craftsmanship and exquisite collections spanning over generations, an exclusive Museum fully dedicated to Gem and Jewellery has taken shape at Khazana Mahal, Gujjar Ghati, Opp Jal Mahal, Jaipur.

The idea of a museum was initiated by a group of enthusiastic NRI Jewellers from New York. Jewellers from Jaipur have also supported the setting up of the Museum since they have a strong desire to leave behind the footprints of their forefathers who developed this trade in the city. The Museum will also give an opportunity to showcase the heritage of the fascinating story of the stone.

Museum of Gem and Jewellery Federation is a ‘Not for profit’ Section 8 Company with 80 G and 12AA certification. The main objective of making this museum is to promote trade of Gems and Jewellery, serves as an employment generation unit, preserving the valuable objects of historical and national importance, medium to educate the society about gems and jewellery; a positive mark that will add to the image of Rajasthan and boost tourism industry.

It is based on the concept of the journey of the stone from mine to rough to finished gemstone and ultimately to jewellery. Accordingly, the Museum has more than 40 sections to illustrate the journey of the stone. Each section has been developed and setup on a particular theme: Nature’s Art Gallery, rainbow colours of nature, rough and cut stones, special rough stones, various cuts of stone, various colours of gemstones, gemstones in India, gemstone specimen, rocks, ancient manufacturing tools, machinery and techniques, history of development of trade in Jaipur, precious rough and cut stones, stones derived from living organisms, Navratna, Navgraha, with sections dedicated to diamond and other precious stone, semi precious stones , beads, synthetic stones etc.

A separate section has been devoted to Kundan Meena art Jewellery which is the mother of Jaipur’s Gem and Jewellery business. Lastly, Darbar Hall-the Jewellery section showcases various types and kinds of Jewellery in India and abroad.

In addition to the above, the Museum showcases gemology maps, mining process details via posters and Kundan Meena jewellery making process via tools, among others.

The video in the mini theatre will introduce visitors to the Museum’s setup and details of exhibits.

The Museum, one of its kind in the country, will not only be a source of education and inspiration for the younger generation but will also help in promoting trade and tourism in the state.
