In a landmark move for the international luxury trade, Informa Markets and MCH Group have announced a strategic collaboration to launch the Basilia Jewellery & Watch Fair, set to debut in Basel in April 2027. This partnership unites two industry powerhouses to create a dedicated commercial and cultural bridge between the dynamic Asian supply market and the established European demand centre.
Bringing together over 400 exhibitors in its inaugural edition at Hall 2 of Messe Basel, Basilia is designed to be more than a transactional fair. It is conceived as an annual intercontinental gathering where manufacturers, designers, brands, and buyers converge to forge strategic partnerships and explore new commercial landscapes.
“Partnering with MCH Group was a natural choice”, remarked Margaret Ma Connolly, President and CEO of Informa Markets in Asia. “Together, we are building a global event that responds to the industry’s evolving needs while celebrating the diversity that makes it so dynamic”.
Basilia distinguishes itself by celebrating distinct cultural identities rather than homogenising them. The show floor is structured like a vibrant city, comprising immersive districts and neighbourhoods, from the Jewellery and Diamond Districts to dedicated Watch Valleys and a Tech Hub, each reflecting the unique energy of the world’s leading creation and production centres.
This initiative directly addresses the growing complexity of the modern sourcing landscape. Celine Lau, Director of Jewellery Fairs at Informa Markets, noted, “Buyers are looking for trusted partners who truly understand the challenges they face. Basilia bridges that gap by directly connecting buyers with specialised suppliers who bring authentic expertise and fresh perspectives”.
Located at the heart of Europe, Basel offers the infrastructure and accessibility required for an event of this scale. With robust local support and committed accommodation capacity from the city’s hotels, Basilia is positioned for long-term growth as a premier international destination.
“Basilia is a platform designed around the future of the jewellery and watch industries”, added Andrea Zappia, CEO ad interim of MCH Group. “By combining Informa Markets’ global reach with MCH Group’s expertise in creating world-class platforms, we are establishing a new kind of international stage”.
Beyond commercial exchange, the event will offer a comprehensive programme of seminars, panel discussions, and expert-led conferences, ensuring that Basilia serves as a hub for both business and ideas.
