EMERGING DESIGNERS AT MICAM MILANO

MICAM Milano, one of the most prestigious footwear trade exhibitions, continues its tradition of fostering new talent through the highly anticipated “Emerging Designers” initiative.

This program, which runs in both the September and February editions of MICAM, has become a cornerstone for discovering and showcasing the future stars of the footwear industry. From 15 to 17 September, at Fiera Milano, 12 exceptional new designers will be given the spotlight to present their innovative collections to a global audience.

The selection process, known for its rigor and attention to detail, was conducted by a distinguished jury that includes leading figures from the fashion world. Chaired by fashion designer Ernesto Esposito, the jury also featured luminaries such as Sara Sozzani Maino, Creative Director at Fondazione Sozzani; Francesca Molteni, Scouting Director at Tessabit; Paola Ventimiglia, Fashion Director at SPORTWEEK – La Gazzetta dello Sport; and Daniele Cardone, a renowned fashion photographer. The jury was also joined by Matteo Ward, Co-Founder of WRAD, and representatives from MICAM led by President Giovanna Ceolini.

The chosen designers represent a diverse array of backgrounds, inspirations, and design philosophies, each bringing something unique to the table. Among them is Daphne Wattiez, who after a decade in the film and television industry, founded AKVO—a brand centered around creating entirely sustainable and avant-garde sandals. Another standout is Ardemia de’Gennaro, whose eponymous brand captures the essence of her journeys through London, Milan, Aversa, and Ibiza, blending these influences into a distinctive stylistic signature.

The lineup also includes Luisa Soriano of Babù Milano, whose creations are inspired by childhood memories and rooted in a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, and Cecilia Bringheli and Sibilla de Vuono of CB Made in Italy, who together bring a fresh perspective to luxury footwear. The innovative spirit continues with Cristiano Magnoni of Crimagno Earth, who combines his background in interior design with a passion for footwear to produce versatile, gender-free collections that are both recyclable and sustainable.

Giacomo Morelli of Gio*Milano and Guillaume Mesly d’Arloz of Meeko each infuse their brands with a deep connection to their respective locales—Milan and Paris—while also addressing the global demand for sustainability and practicality in fashion. Meanwhile, Corine Ferrer of O.SUR draws inspiration from Mediterranean cultures, creating designs that marry simplicity with elegance.

Francesca Parisi of Parisy brings her business acumen and entrepreneurial spirit to the fore, crafting footwear that emphasizes durability, comfort, and sustainability. Sabina Teruel of Sabinis showcases the best of Alicante’s rich footwear tradition, blending it with sophisticated femininity, while the duo behind Sistta, Alberto Tassinari and Francisco Batta, combine their Italian and Mexican heritage to create timelessly elegant designs.

Finally, Lello Romano of Sneark takes a nostalgic yet innovative approach, creating trainers inspired by the 1980s but with a modern twist that prioritizes sustainability.

These emerging designers are set to make a significant impact on the footwear industry, offering visitors to MICAM Milano an opportunity to discover new trends, stories, and creative expressions. The Emerging Designers space promises to be one of the most dynamic and exciting areas of the exhibition, reflecting the future of fashion through the eyes of its most promising talents.
