LEBOIS & CO MARKS 90 YEARS WITH THE HERITAGE CHRONOGRAPH ATELIER – COQUILLE D’ŒUF

For its 90th anniversary, Lebois & Co has chosen to celebrate by creating a watch that embodies the artistry, patience, and passion at the heart of fine Swiss watchmaking. The Heritage Chronograph Atelier, Coquille d’œuf is the first in a new Atelier subcollection dedicated to the Métiers d’Art, those rare, time-honoured crafts that turn precision instruments into works of art.

The Atelier line is a love letter to the old-world skills that define true watchmaking: intricate guilloché, the magic of Grand Feu enamel, and the mastery of artisans whose steady hands transform raw materials into something enduring. The debut model takes its name Coquille d’œuf, or “eggshell”, from the soft, warm tone achieved when glass, copper, and fire meet in perfect harmony. It’s a colour that feels timeless, elegant, and quietly confident.

In keeping with traditions upheld by the most prestigious maisons, the Coquille d’œuf is available only by souscription, reserved before it exists. Just 25 pieces will be crafted this year, each made-to-order for its future owner. This is not a watch you buy rather a watch you commission, knowing it will be built with your piece in mind from the very first step.

The dial is a small masterpiece in itself: three separate components, two recessed subdials, each produced individually and joined with meticulous care. Fine layers of enamel powder are brushed on by hand, then fired at over 800°C to fuse into the copper base. The numerals, pulsation scale, and logo are printed with enamel-based inks, each colour perfectly aligned before one last firing seals them forever. Every dial emerges with its own subtle variations — no two exactly alike, each a one-of-one.

Inside the 39mm stainless steel case beats a Swiss-made manual-wind column wheel chronograph with a 60-hour power reserve. Water-resistant to 50 meters and paired with a supple brown leather strap, it combines the romance of traditional craftsmanship with the reliability of modern engineering.

Every Coquille d’œuf comes with a bespoke booklet and certificate, chronicling its creation from the first shaping of the dial to its final inspection. It’s a tangible record of the hours, the skill, and the human touch that brought it to life.

The Heritage Chronograph Atelier, Coquille d’œuf is a personal statement and a reminder that in the age of mass production, true artistry is as rare and as precious as ever.
