The Ocean Dream

ONE OF THE WORLD’S EIGHT RAREST DIAMONDS RETURNS TO CHRISTIE’S GENEVA

Christie’s has unveiled The Ocean Dream, the largest fancy vivid blue-green diamond ever recorded, heading to auction this May.

The 5.50-carat triangular gem, certified by the GIA as type Ia, among the purest natural diamonds, carries a pre-sale estimate of CHF 7–10 million. Recovered from an 11.70-carat rough found in Central Africa in the 1990s, the stone previously sold at Christie’s Geneva for CHF 7.7 million in 2014.

Recognised by the Smithsonian Institution as one of the eight rarest diamonds in the world, The Ocean Dream was featured in the landmark 2003 Splendor of Diamonds exhibition alongside legendary stones such as the De Beers Millennium Star and the Moussaieff Red.

The diamond will be offered on 13 May 2026 during Christie’s Magnificent Jewels auction at the Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues in Geneva, with previews in Bangkok and Hong Kong.

“An exceptional jewel of profound rarity and allure”, said Max Fawcett, Global Head of Christie’s Jewellery.
