There is a particular kind of anticipation that settles over the Monaco Yacht Show each September, the scent of the sea mixing with fresh teak, the quiet hum of superyachts trading their final touches before the world arrives. This year, I’ll be walking those docks in person, and one name on my itinerary stands above the rest, Benetti, the Italian shipyard that has been shaping the art of yachting since 1873, returns with a presence that feels less like an exhibition and more like a statement of intent.
At Stand QE23, Benetti unveils two world premieres, the 67-metre hybrid M/Y Dagger and the 50-metre full-custom M/Y Perseverance, while also welcoming guests into a new Lounge at the Yacht Club de Monaco, a space I’m particularly looking forward to experiencing firsthand.
Designed by AMDL CIRCLE and the celebrated architect Michele De Lucchi, the new Benetti Lounge is conceived as a journey rather than a display, one that traces the shipyard’s Green Route, its long-standing pursuit of sustainable yachting measured in real, tangible results rather than intentions. The exhibition walks visitors from the first diesel-electric propulsion system ever fitted to a yacht, back in 2006, through to M/Y Kasper 7, the first Benetti yacht to earn a 3-star SEA Index certification, and onward to the fully hybrid B.Neos “The Soul of Silence”. It’s a rare opportunity to see two decades of quiet, deliberate innovation laid out in one elegant space, and I intend to spend real time there.
The 67-metre M/Y Dagger (FB288) is Benetti’s most refined statement yet on what hybrid yachting can feel like when technology is placed entirely in service of comfort. Its modular system blends conventional propulsion, electric technology, and an advanced salt-battery pack, adapting effortlessly to any cruising scenario while delivering a level of quietness and efficiency that, from everything I’ve read, has to be experienced to be believed. Inside, Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design has shaped interiors that feel almost sculptural, fluid, organic, and endlessly welcoming, while RWD‘s exterior lines outside are crowned by the now-iconic Oasis Deck®, the true beating heart of the yacht’s social life on board.
If M/Y Dagger speaks to technology, the 50-metre M/Y Perseverance speaks to intimacy. The newest addition to the B.Now 50M family was born from an unusually close dialogue between shipyard and owner, with every decision, from the layout of the spaces to the smallest bespoke finish, shaped hand-in-hand. The result, by every account, is less a yacht than a portrait, deeply personal, quietly confident, and entirely custom in spirit as much as in name.
Together, M/Y Dagger, M/Y Perseverance, and the new Yacht Club de Monaco Lounge capture three sides of Benetti I’ve long admired, technical mastery, an unwavering culture of custom craftsmanship, and a genuine warmth toward the international community it has built over more than a century.
